From Sonia to Jasmine Hellmer
Hi Jasmine! I’m going to talk about my town.
My town
name’s Arbeca, it's near Les Borges Blanques and about 2 hours of Barcelona, in
Catalonia. It’s a little town about 2500 inhabitants. There aren’t as many things as in big city like Barcelona but it’s enough for us.
We have two
schools, one for babies and the other for children from the age of 3 years
old to the 11 years old. The second school
in the history was a castle of “Duque de Cardona”. Our parents, grandparents
and great-grandparents fought to build a school but they hadn’t enough money
for it and they decided to change the castle into a school.
We don’t
have any building for a theatre or cinema but we reproduce films in a little space to celebrate parties, carnivals, etc. We have a big old church and it is
150 years old approximated. There is also a
music school.
To
practice sports, we have an athletics ring and inside it a football pitch. Near
this, there is another football pitch but this is smaller than the other and it’s only for babies. In summer, we have a
swimming pool and there are three pools of different sizes.
In my town
people practice many sports like cycling, running, horse riding, football,
gymnastics, etc.
We
celebrated the Festa Major in summer, in the end of August. Festa Major
consists of making a lot of activities for young people, dances for parents and
grandparents in the afternoon and about 12 o’clock at night till 6 or 7 in the morning, there are concerts and parties for teenagers. The Saturday of
Festa Major one group of our town play “Batukada” and this band plays percussion instruments and all people follow them along the streets of the town and we finished in
the bar of swimming pool and there we have breakfast.It’s a great party! In Festa Major we celebrate Arbequi de Ferro too. It's a game in the mud.
We have
other celebrations too like “Santa Caterina” and “El sopar de la fam” but these are boring.
Well
Jasmine, this can be a little bit of my town but we make it very nice! There are more
things to explain but I believe that they aren’t necessary.
