My town by Albert Balcells

From Albert to Danny Andersen

Today I'm going to talk about my town, Omellons. I live in Omellons, a little village of Les Garrigues. It  is a very small town that has only 250 inhabitants. It's a boring town for young people. There is a restaurant, a church, a bar, a bakery, two swimming pools, a marina and a Primary school but it is closed because there weren't enough children to keep it opened. We have to go to school to the next village that is Borges, which is at 8km far. Festa Major, our major festivity is the last week of september, for Saint Michael. We call this saint in Catalonia "Sant Miquel".

My town by Albert Mateu

From Albert Mateu to Joshua Perea

Hi, I'm Albert!

My town is Castelldans, which is a great village that has about 1,000 people. It is very nice and I have lived there since I was born.
In my town there is one castle, but in bad conditions. There is also a cinema where my friends and I go to watch a movie every weekend. We also have a soccer field and a swimming pool.
There are also two cooperatives: one of fruit and the other one of olive oil. There are also a hairdresser, a supermarket and two banks. There is a nice chapel, which is in one small building. I enjoy living in my village because of the people who live there.
What about your town or city?

From Èdim Martí to Lindsey Alloy

L'Albi

My town is very small only it has about 867 inhabitants, in which all or almost all we know each other.
There are pools, a football pitch, bars, restaurants, shops, churches, a castle, schools, municipalities,
We live very well in winter because it is very cold, but summers are very hot.
There are very beautiful houses but almost all are of them are built with stone.
It is a nice town. The weather is good because it does not rain too much, but when it rains, it rains a lot, it tends to rarely but  when it snows, it snows a lot. We always have a hot summer and a cold winter.

From Florin to Lindsey Alloy

Hi Lindsey!

I live in Castelldans, I live in the town center. Castelldans is a town of 1000 inhabitants.
To the left of my house there is the castle of the town, it is a ruined castle at the time but it offers very beautiful views of the town.
We also have a movie theater, every Sunday there is a very nice movie on. Next to the movie theater there is the library and a supermarket. The village is quite large in comparison with the many villages there are in my county. In my village there are also three bars, a restaurant and a hotel.
We also have a beautiful church with a tall belfry where the bells are set.Castelldans has many routes to watch nature and its calmness that can be covered on foot or by bicycle. It is usually a pretty quiet town, people are very kind and very generous.

My town by Maria Masip

From Maria to Lily Cohen

Hi Lily!

This time I'll talk about my town. I live in Albagés. It is a small town that has about 500 inhabitants. It is fifteen minutes from my school. In my town there are not many things to visit, but there are a few that are spectacular. I live in a two-storey house with my brother, my mother, my father and my grandmother. Not a big house, but it is nice.

My village is surrounded by fields and nature. I like that very much, because it is very quiet. Next to my house there is a church and opposite the Town Hall. My mother works as a secretary at the town hall.

At the top of the town there is a castle. I like to go there and be square. I walk the dog every day for a wasteland where you see the sunset. In the village there are public swimming pools where we spend every day in the summer. There is also a shop where they sell many things, but my family always buy in the capital. On Saturdays market stalls are installed in the town square. This place is huge and there are places to sit and play. We have a school, but not too big. There are many children.

Now they are building a reservoir, to irrigate the dry fields. It will be huge. I can go by boat. We celebrate many festivals. The most important are the May Festival and the Festival of August. During the rest of the year there are other celebrations. We have a race bike called TRANSISQUELLA, which involves many people and we give the money to help some organizations which help people.

There is also a football team in recent years. We have a football match every weekend and I watch it with my friends.

In the village there are other lovely places. I would like one day you could see them. I think you'd like them.

In March and June in my town there is a festival called "Festa Major".It takes  3 or 4 days and there are activities during the day and parties at night.
My family has a farm with pigs we have got 2200 pigs. The farm is 2 or 3 kilometers far from home and when I have to go there I go by motorbike, so I arrive faster.

My town by Marcel Aixalà

From Marcel to Kate Klimkiewicz

Hi Kate,

I am Marcel Aixalà and I'm going to be your new pen pal partner, because your pen pal is very lazy at writing and there were three students of us who didn't have any pen pal, so our teacher change three pen pals who didn't write for three who are eager to write you. Nice to meet you!

Now,  I'm going to talk about my village, Juneda. It has about 3500 inhabitants and is in the county of Les Garrigues, Catalonia. We have many lovely places in Juneda. You can practice sport in the "Banqueta" a very natural park with a long path with lines of trees al both sides, and a channel in one of the sides.
We also have a nice library which is a cultural space in the cultural complex, where we can find exhibitions of paintings and other things.

The football pitch and the swimming pool enclousure are at the outskirts of town meanwhile, the sports complex is in the centre where we can practice many sports.

I like my town, and I will not change it :)

From Roger Montalà to  Peter Tojsl

Les Borges Blanques

Hello,

I will talk about my town Les Borges Blanques, the capital of Les Garrigues.

My town for me is the best as I have many friends and many things to do. Les Borges Blanques is very lovely because it is a town that offers many possibilities. People can spend a nice time going montain biking, running around the forest, swimming in summer in the swmming pool, meeting friends in many places and going to the park to talk or play.

This is the Terrall Park

You can play in a football team, play in a ping-pong team which is tennis table, go to the gym and practice Taekwondo, go the bar and play billiards.
My town is really big, it has an old amazing church, a lot of people during the week go to pray and the tourists take many photos of it. There’s too many supermarkets, shops, barber's and the most important for me, it is the sports center as there we can watch theatre, dances (the typical dance is “Sardanes”)and practise many sports such as rollerskating, tennis table, football, basketball, etc.

This is our typical dance "La Sardana"

This is one of the pools of the Terrall Park
There sometimes a  special sports park is built for the children and young people  to do different activities mainly at Christmas season and they give awards. And the other important place is the central Square as there we practice dances, cinema at the open air, traditional festivities, meetings (to go to run, walk, etc.), typical weekly markets and medieval markets too when it is Festa Major.

This is the main Square and the most antique. Constitution Square.
In the suburbs there’s a lot of farmshouses and there we can do barbacue, grasslands,… .

My town by Núria Farràs

From Núria to Aubree Phillips

Hi Aubree!
I'm going to talk about my town. My town is l'Albi, one of the most quiet towns in les Garrigues.
L'Albi is a small town but is very homely. There are only 870 people.
In it, you can have fun with friends and practise some sports: football, basketball, rollerblades, paddle, running...
When you enter into the town there is a roundabout and and then you are in l'Albi.
We have only one school and in it there are approximately eighty students from three to twelve years old.
There is one restaurant and one bar.
In my town there is a church called Santa Maria and hermitage called Sant Cosme and Sant Damià because they are Saints patron of my town.
There is a square, a castle, two pools , a paddle court, football field and a cooperative that makes a great olive oil.
We have two bands "La tropa del Cargol" with a kind of instrument called "gralles" and "Batukamelatu" with drums. My cousin Joan is playing for both of them. I think it is very great!

I hope your answer soon.

Bye !
