My town by Èrika Vilamajó

From Èrika to Catherine Scherer

Hello Catherine!

How are you? I hope you are fine.

I'm going to talk you about my town. It's about half an hour from Lleida. It's the capital of Les Garrigues. Its name is Les Borges Blanques.

It has got some interesting places, such as "Sant Salvador", which is a delightful place with a lovely hermitage, "la font Vella" where I've celebrated almost all of my birthdays, and also some parks, like Plaça Europa", "la placeta de les Escoles", and the biggest and, for me, the most interesting,  called "Terrall" with two ponds with some ducks and a lot of fishes. Last year, there were born sixteen ducks, in our "Festa Major".

Festa Major is like the biggest party in my town. It has got a lot of competitions, like fishing in our ponds or running etc., and for children there are also some fairground rides. Every day, at night, there are some concerts for everyone, from children to adults. It takes place the first weekend of September.

And for "Sant Antoni" (17 January) there is the "Tres Tombs" celebration, where groups of people build their own float to participate in the three laps around the terral two pools. This is a tradition for Sunday morning in the Olive Oil Fair.

My town also has an sports centre, two swimming pools, a pitch next to the swimming pools, a library in the "Terrall" park, three schools, its own local radio and TV channel, lots of shops, two supermarkets, a sweets shop, two museums, two hotels, and lots of restaurants.

And what about your town?
